HST. Probably one of the most bizarre 'railway' photos you can get! This image of the High Level Bridge and Gateshead TMD was taken from the flightdeck of an RAF Hercules some 800ft above Newcastle, whilst the plane was preparing to make a low-level fly-past having dropped the Red Devils parachute team from 10,000ft over the Town Moor during 1987. What could be a cross-country HST set is sat on the High Level Bridge with several 37s and 47s just visible on the depot! The 'obstruction' in front of the camera is actually the co-pilot...! (MD)
